So where the heck has SPOUT been? (part 2)
Last week we wrapped up mixing on seven of the songs for the new album and shipped them off to our management company. They've been waiting six months to hear from us, so we were thrilled to send them some of our KILLER new material.
To celebrate, we went out on Saturday to catch Fluid Tuesday at Windows on the Cumberland. Longtime SPOUT fans will be familiar with them, but it was my first chance to see them. Wow! It's impossible to stand still while these guys are rocking the house. They brought out the dancing spirit even in a whiteboy such as myself. Outside, on a corner along 2nd avenue, there was a drummer and a group of break dancers entertaining a huge crowd. They battled each other and kept the audience involved in the action. It's just the sort of thing Nashville needs to show that we're not all about cowboy hats.
Since I've been in Nashville, I've heard people complain about the music scene here. These people obviously can't tell asses from heads! I remember seeing Imaginary Baseball League and the Lucky Guns open for Year of the Rabbit a couple of years ago and being just as impressed with the locals as I was with the band I came to see (and I practically worship Ken Andrews). You can find fresh, original music around pretty easily if you know where to look.
So here's a challenge to you all: Aside from SPOUT, post the names of some of your favorite local acts, past and present. Let's hear it!
Here's some of the bands on my list: Lucky Guns, Trabant, Lowboy, Atticus Fault...

Shun was one of the very first bands I saw when I first moved to Nashville. Damn, those guys were great.
Spout is the only local band I love. Well, Lennon, too, if you make her local - she is from Hendersonville. Bombshell Crush isn't bad if I'm in the mood for that, though I did manage to piss off the lead singer. Other than the bands I've seen play with Spout, I've basically never heard of any of the other bands mentioned. When I was in high school the big Nashville band was Submethod. I never saw them, though. Has anyone even heard of them? I went to Indienet a few times in hs because it was the only place you go go underage and saw crappy punk bands.

I remember IndieNet, Dan and I went there a few years ago to see Trail of Dead. They broke so much of their equipment in the first two songs that they had to stop. And my ears rang for half a week anyway. Cool place.
The only time I saw Shun, Submethod opened, and they were surprisingly good (at least, much better than the bands back in Arkansas at the time!). I also saw them open for Poison the Well and Hatebreed and they put on a good performance.
totemsoul
100 Watt Opera
Pilots Lounge
The Eversafters
Shadows of Light
Bombshell Crush (its a damn shame they're no more)
